Seems today that when talking about, or especially when advertising a 336 for sale, uses the "JM stamped" as the gold standard for a genuine Marlin lever action rifle. I know it's because of the Remington made Marlins that have been proofed with"REP" on the barrel since 2010 or 11.Serial starts with 98 so I figure manufacture of 2002. My question is this , The "JM" stamp is crude compared to the older Marlins. The barell is New Haven Conn. I also have a XL7 30-06 serial # starts with 91 so it must have been built in 2009,it is also market with New Haven Conn on the barell.
